Sketcher - Text - Annotations tooling
in Sketcher, when preparing model, often need make some comments to drawings - and there would be nice to see simple "Text-box-tool"
(likewise to measurement blue dimension lines, which not affects anything but gives needed infos),
also would be nice so that will be with some Anchors to object
has searched, but here i mean different thing from "ShapeText" requests.
Current Ver. 0.20.2

Re: Sketcher - Text
not quite. i'm starting always from sketches - and then extrude. but in process - all measurements and ideas arising inside and along with sketching - so logically that must be inline.
and there may be many overlapped sketches and in every must have own comments
not a measurement lines, but free textual information likewise "This subpart intended for ... " or "this side lately must be connected to ..." "in postprocessing would be nice to ... " etc. samples - so not only listed ...Workshop_Notes wrote: ↑Sat May 27, 2023 6:56 pm See:

as exactly sketcher part act as other CADs with dimensioning possibilities ... and some useful annotations needed exactly here "per sketch" ... especially when part design takes more that one hour/day/week ... so simple descriptive notes for recall after some time ...

Re: Sketcher - Text
useful, but too many jumping between menus, also as by rearranging of layout this annotations are movable in other tool - so - uncomfortable.
useful only as "hack-around" small sample of Planning of "case" size with overall compoment location - as can understand there maz be many parts - so movements and rearrangings of placements of every component is not handy
surely can start from many draft parts ... and make every object separated ... but that still will be "hacky way" also as between every component may be requirements for exact distancing ... and all they are not a part of projected "case"

Sketch have some untold rules your sketch is too complex, don't put too much elements on it.
Sketcher is made to make profiles to became base for festure (pad, pockets, et other if you are using Part Design WB) or extrusion, revolution and similar things if you are using Part WB.
Other things are "out if scope" annotations could be handy, but there are ways to add references to objects maybe using meaningful labels and create a text document to. describe workflow and notes.
There are some discussion of adding something, but it has not passed the discussion phase yet.

Text documents and tables - that are on end of development ... in development process all handy information must be easily accessible.
and You mention exactly what i saying - that is complex layout (however quite not - only 6 components) , but that is not exactly related to part itself
all white lines will be blue - only as information and reference sizes/points for inner size of case wall - at the end that will be simple "thin 2mm rectangle, that extruded along Z " - but arranging is not possible currently - or need to use some other CAD for "measure-draw-calculate" ...

Re: Sketcher - Text - Annotations tooling
Not exactly, you could make a master sketch and use it to position things, I have made with help of other clever guys a wiki tutorial on these workflow.
I'm modelling mostly with scripting, so annotations are not a problem in line comments and docstrings are enough verbose.
And my models are even TNP proofs as the object references are in the code. But it is not a cup if tea, you have to learn and bang your head on many details.
FreeCAD is pretty powerful even in this state, if you use it for its purpose, 3d modelling part.
Future will bring improvement for sure, as developers are not sleeping, but sadly this is not so visible to "casual users" many people here know this secret hidden in plain view.

Re: Sketcher - Text
you can do everything without changing the workbench. here is an example
