Arch WB ... Frame Tool [Solved]

Post by frcaduser »

Hello,

I ran into a thread regarding the Frame tool from the Arch workbench. Found it a bit interesting. I proceeded to the documentation
here:

https://wiki.freecad.org/Arch_Frame

I executed the steps as stated. ... and then nothing happens other than seeing the Frame icon as part of the project tree.

Can someone please advise using this tool the correct way. The sketch at the top shows 3D objects ... that is not what I oberved
after performing the steps.

The documentation page could also help via a simple example project (hint, hint).

Move the sketches out of the Body and delete the Body. The Body makes no sense.
Align the profile sketch with the XY plane.

Hello,

I removed the body. Retried it. Still nothing. Please reference the attached project.
(the body is a kneejerk reaction as most times that I attempted to create an object, a pop-up appears prompting to create a body)

Message to the developers: If you're going to go through all of the trouble of developing a tool, would it be
to much trouble to document the tool with a helpful example project highlighting its benefits?

I suspect the information from min 6:09 could fit

There is no example regarding the Frame tool.

Update: I drew both objects on the same plane (the datum line and the circle), I now get a result.
I have uploaded the test projects for both cases. Single and with the Draft > Array tool.

Thank you thomas-neemann, for your help, time, and effort. Greatly appreciated.

I have figured it out, however. I think that tool documentation on the part of developers can really help ... just my
two cents.

This is a FOSS project, if you are unhappy with the documentation, you should apply for wiki editing permissions and do something about it.
