I would very much like to see @ppemawm's Atkinson Differential Engine as splash screen, e.g. the left upper image of the complete engine in the first post. There are multiple reasons to use this as splash screen:
- it is a great model
- it is completely made in FreeCAD
- it is discussed broadly here in the forum, so that interested users can dive deep into the modeling.
A Sketcher Lecture with in-depth information is available in English, auf Deutsch, en français, en español.

This is a fantastic model. The support in terms of describing how it is built is close to unparalleled on the forum. Great tutorial for FreeCAD.

However, the prototype is more than 140 years old. Would this send the wrong message about the modern utility for FreeCAD?

Then it is high time to use it as splash screen for FreeCAD.

Thank you for the kind comments.

Please note that this is NOT a FreeeCAD model in this image, but rather, it is the first sheet of the drawings by Pendargrast. I would suggest the first image of the second post. Or, better yet, one from Bernard19. He has certainly earned it.

Here is my entry for the splash screen (a Blender Render and a FreeCAD Screen shot)... you can find the files for the model on GrabCAD https://grabcad.com/library/t12-digital ... atteries-1 along with many other models both simple and vastly complex, but all done completely in FreeCAD.

Good idea. You both have earned it, you as modeler and tutor, he as a learner!

@Bernard19, care to make a proposal - or two?

Yes, good idea, but why not use Render WB instead of Blender? (or at least both). And as far as I can see, there is no license information with the model, this should be clarified with the owner, in my opinion.

Well. Cool pictures but did you get an official authorization from Ryobi to use it as a branding mark in a product?

It should be clear that we do not want to be anywhere close to either of these potential problems.
