Wire model to solid
Dear fellow Freecad users.
Since 3 months I have been trying to make a solid model from a DXF wire model so that I can print it in 3d.
It is a complicated model of a modern sailboat.
In the meantime I had to buy a new PC because my laptop couldn't handle it anymore.
After 3 months I'm still banging my head against the wall because I can't get any further.
system i use:
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700T CPU @ 2.90GHz 2.90 GHz
Ram 16,0 GB
Freecad version 0.20.2
I really hope there is someone who can help me with this, I would really appreciate it.
Best regards

Re: Wire model to solid
A search inside the forum with"boat/hull" could give you some hints.
But looking the file you have a mountain of hours to get the hull.
Im surprised about it. Where you go it.

Re: Wire model to solid
... hi Max,
and did you get your printable scaled model of an imoca60?
I'm actually trying to think over HugoBoss line plans to 11th_hour lines
- e.g. 720mm long, like RC-models.
Is it worth the work?

Re: Wire model to solid
Hi Hammax,
Thank you for showing intrest in this topic.
Thanks to thomas-neeman I am finally able to work on the DXF file.
The model is scaled to a length of 130cm, so there's enough working space for all servos and the tilt system for the keel.
I'm not sure what you mean by 11th_hour lines.
I connected all the ribs in a loft, that way i created an ruled surface.
There's still a long way to go, with a lot of going back and forward, but the effort will be payed off when its an rc beast
