Error when attempting to use Polar Pattern Feature

Post by oliverspozi »

Hi,

I am trying to create a specific size cut in a cylinder body using a half circle just positioned towards the edge of the cylinder.I am trying to do 16 iterations of this at equal distance to one another around the 360 degree axis.I have tried using the polar pattern feature in part design workbench, however it results in the following error:

Error message: "15 transformed shapes do not intersect support"

I have no idea how to work around this or fix it. I am not particularly keen on manually doing this so any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Screenshots have been attached for perusal.

Probably last copy is cutting the void of the first part, so it is not intersecting the shape

16 pieces 15 repetitions first is the original one.

Hope it helps.

@onekk

I took a look at that but it does it for any number. I wondered though if it were possibly an issue with which active body was selected? Should it be the component on which I am attempting to imprint the grooves on? Or should it be the grooves itself?

Sorry if first guess was wrong, but without a file is hard to tell.

That is a common operation and is not the cause. I do that sort of array often.

Without file is difficult to judge, OP from what I could see have not supplied one.

My fault, I have to avoid to try to sugggest things without complete information.

Sorry for the noise.

Kind regards

The file is attached below:

I have removed the solid object as it was causing errors but I am not sure how to do this using a possible pitch operation either as I do not know how to transform a sketch without moving the entire body either.

@thomas-neemann

If you madea video that would be awesome.I would greatly appreciate that. I have no idea how the first image happened. I know I had two sketches on different plains originally but was trying to mess around with the pocket function.

Thanks
