Complete newbie stuck on tutorial
I'm trying to design a rounded triangle with 3 holes. Other than a short kick-the-tires encounter with FreeCAD many years ago, I'm a complete newbie. Used CadQuery a few times, but the hidden state manipulation makes causes too much grief to continue.
I installed FreeCAD 0.20.2 on Ubuntu 22.04.2. I went to https://wiki.freecad.org/Basic_Part_Design_Tutorial_019. It diverges from what I see on the screen in Step B: Add geometry, but I found Create polyline in Sketcher geometries and I have my triangle. Step C: Assign a horizontal constraint is a showstopper for me. When I click on a short yellow bar to edit the constraint, it diverges from the tutorial too far for me to know what to do next. Neither dimension will appear between the endpoints of the selected line, nor dialog will appear happens:
What should I do? Is there another tutorial more appropriate for my first design?

Re: Complete newbie stuck on tutorial
There is NO triangle in the tutorial.......
Have a read of the tutorial and post back when you've done it.

Re: Complete newbie stuck on tutorial
I'm aware of that, but I don't think that replacing a rectangle with a polyline will change the workflow in the first few steps of the tutorial, right? There is NO triangle in the tutorial.......
Here is a rectangle for you. The same situation occurs:
Re: Complete newbie stuck on tutorial
You click on constraint !
you should click on the geometry (line of the rectangle)
you should click on the geometry (line of the rectangle)

Re: Complete newbie stuck on tutorial
OK, I found it. Just like drawing primitives, constraints are hidden in Sketch -> Sketcher constraints menu. The tutorial is for version older than 0.20.2. The
comment was definitely uncalled for.Have a read of the tutorial and post back when you've done it.

Move this toolbar :
Re: Complete newbie stuck on tutorial
The constraint icon is hidden, expand the toolbars by pressing on the arrow button in the separator.
I responded that way because that was how it appeared to me, there was no mention of being unable to see the toolbars.
OP stated a divergence from the tutorial which appeared from the screenshots to be not following it.
Don't get precious, be clear with the questions and you will receive clear help.
