I might come like a hair in the soup here ( french expression :) ) but why not simply use the FreeCAD logo, kind of, FreeCAD would "lend" it to the FPA?

I read that at first as a "hare in the soup" and thought "well what's wrong with that?!" At any rate, you are of course welcome to submit that as an entry for voting, though my overall thinking here is that on Social Media it is sometimes useful to be able to distinguish between a post from the FPA and a post from FreeCAD, since we do want to make sure that there is a distinction between the two.

The Founder stating that the FreeCAD logo could be used for everything kind of destroys my hope a little bit, that FreeCAD will ever get a good looking icon. I thought this might be a stepping stone for the developers to come up with a plan on how to go about redesigning the FreeCAD icon (Typo is nearly ok, "Fr" are too generic and don't convey freedom, ergo my redesign of the two in the FPA logo.). I posted my suggestion of a rough plan over in the fitting thread: viewtopic.php?p=661816#p661816. Please let the community know if it will ever go anywhere or if you are too much into the early logo to change it.
Thanks, by the way, for starting this great project!

Don't despair! @yorik is a reasonable guy, who feels very strongly about community involvement in FreeCAD. While I know he does personally like the original logo, one of the purposes of this FPA logo exercise is to see if we can develop a process that works for making "big" decisions as a community.
