Missing Templates in Ubuntu installation

Post by MrConstraint »

I recently used SNAP to install FreeCAD 0.20.2 under Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS and the Template folder was not a part of the package.

How do I get these templates and get them into the right place? I assumed that the templates were always installed.

My snap v20.2 has the templates, but I have no idea when it was updated. Maybe @Kunda1 knows something.

In the interim, I've copied the templates from the source tree to my google drive. You should be able to download those to get you working again. You can put the templates anywhere you want, as long as you point the template directory preference to the right location.

Thanks! I ended up using Snap to uninstall FreeCAD, then just grabbed an AppImage to reinstall it.

There is about 400MB difference in file size between what was available in Snap and the AppImage.
