For quite some years now I have started to do nearly all my tinker projects first in FreeCAD, before I cut any material at all.
2 years ago I got back into simracing again and after I saw the prices for ready2use simrigs I decided to build one from scratch.
I always want to learn new things, and this gave me a chance to learn welding at last
So I started designing all the parts needed for it:
Which lead to detailed tech drawings which made milling and drilling of the parts much much easier.
I even used FreeCAD to model my simroom and see, how everything fits in there:

Re: Building a simracing simrig in FreeCAD
Finally, everything came out, like planned in FreeCAD
After the rig was done, I started with my own Wheel for it:
It's still missing the electronics soldered, but the hardware based on the CAD design is done. greetings
