I would do it like @Shalmeneser. Not all chamfer/fillets should be on the end, it is context sensitive. And because it belongs to the base form, i would do it when the base form is finished. (Also i would do the base shape with intersections, but that is an other thing).

I am one of the fiew to advocate early filling. The reason is the topological naming problem: the earlier you fillet, the less features can break by parametric changes.

Logical, but when you use commercial 3D CAD software for 20 years, then you are a little spoiled, i.e. you don't think about the software while working but about the 3D model.
