Re: FreeCAD on the web
Here is a channel by mister Viktor Ignatov, he is uploading FreeCAD videos. These videos are exemplary not only because of the short duration, about 5 to 10 minutes but also by the real live cases he tends to solve. As i understand a community is posting requests how to design models and Victor delivers every time. I like this particular video. Many of his videos feature the part workbench a true powerful tool. Seems he does not place a single features in a part as i would do, the features are floating in the file...
As seen in his other videos he changed the colour of the sketch dimensions, on top of that he changed the mouse over highlighting and i am 100% with him on that! I do not understand a word he is saying, neither can read anything! Watching he's videos should catapult beginners towards understanding and working with FreeCAD.
Short vids on point exemplary for beginners and intermediate alike, no need for words there...
Cheers.

Re: FreeCAD on the web
and same error as most of them on YT
he doesn't make it clear which version/release he is using (unless I have missed it?)
result - we get posts here on the forum from newbs saying:
unless FreeCAD version is made clear (and early in the beginning of the video) I do not bother... I am following this YT tutorial, but my FreeCAD behaves differently what am I doing wrong?...

... which version? He uses the most recent one... It is 20.2 in his last video.bambuko wrote: ↑Fri Mar 24, 2023 7:03 pm

We should have a versions timeline, a huge vector graphic! Every version is indicated with its proper icon, for the recognition... Like a FreeCAD ID... .
Guess who else doesn't post his FreeCAD version? Yep it is Mads Leth Danielsen. The video i am linking is a simple one, the others are up to 50 minutes. I'll link two of them. This time the language is english, nice and slow, it's good for you and good for me. Mmmm good!
Love this one. The simpler the better...
And there goes the marathon, this will fry what ever is between your ears, if you dare to follow along .
Not a bad video, just a little demanding...
I am not convinced that Mr. Victor Ignatov and Mads Leth Danielsen using FreeCAD the most efficient way, but i think it is a secondary goal for every one to find out for them self. There are many paths to reach Rome...
Re: FreeCAD on the web
- well... it already is not the latest (I am using 0.21.0)jimmihenry wrote: ↑Sat Mar 25, 2023 12:43 am ... which version? He uses the most recent one... It is 20.2 in his last video...
- it doesn't matter that it (maybe) is the latest one at the point of video creation
I want to know which one he is using, when I come to his video in 12 month time...
- there are too many YT videos on that interest me, but I only find (by guessing) half way through the video
that the version used is not the same one that I use (wasted my time again)

In the meantime, simply indicating version used in the title of YT video would be simple solution,
but... I guess YT creators are more interested in clicks and viewing statistic
I am a great fan (subscribed) of YT channel - Mads Leth Danielsenjimmihenry wrote: ↑Sat Mar 25, 2023 12:43 am Guess who else doesn't post his FreeCAD version? Yep it is Mads Leth Danielsen.
and... at least his videos clearly show which FreeCAD he is using

the latest FreeCAD version is 20.2. Look at the Image below... You downloaded the Weekly build or even Link branch Assembly3?
Pay attention to the upload date of the video than you can estimate what version is used or compare the date to the Time line. However you won't know the version for sure unless you ask for it. On the other hand if you know the FreeCAD shown in a video is a very old version would you really downgrade?
Luckily the FreeCAD number is shown in the menu bar.
Back to business,
ya won't to buy a "legit" FreeCAD or CATIA® maybe Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, ArchiCAD, BricsCAD™, HiCAD, MegaCAD, workstation? But wait there is more Nemetschek Allplan®, Solid Edge, SOLIDWORKS®, workstation. You do, than take a closer look here .

Re: FreeCAD on the web
looks kind of scammy, isn't it listing the same PCs for every CAD? What makes those more fit for FreeCAD than any other PC?
