He had to. There needs to be some (very) good explanation why customers should pay roughly 20K€ (list price) per CATIA seat + yearly maintenance.

Re: FreeCAD on the web
e.g. as a vw supplier you probably have to buy catia
Re: FreeCAD on the web
Automotive suppliers need to own CAD seats from all the major players (Dassault, Pro/E, ...) if they want orders.thomas-neemann wrote: ↑Sun Sep 04, 2022 4:34 pm e.g. as a vw supplier you probably have to buy catia
Not only that, you also have to have the exact version and environment the automaker uses (and the latter isn't for free, they charge you for it). If the automaker upgrades (many of them get upgrades for free or only for a symbolic fee), you have to upgrade as well (with the little difference that *you* have to pay for it).

Of course, he was marketing Dassault products. I know the game...I stood in his shoes for many years, with several different CAD packages...

Re: FreeCAD on the web
Only vaguely related but I tried to install CAD-Sketcher and am failing at the first hurdle(s).
Trying to follow the instructions at https://hlorus.github.io/CAD_Sketcher/installation/
Okay I click on the "Zip Archive" but being on a Mac this automatically gets expanded in $HOME/Downloads.
Okay I use compress to create a zip file and then I think I am able to install the Addon.
I assume it is not working because I do not have blender with solverspace installed.
( In the past I have installed solverspace as an app I assume from a dmg but it was some time ago )
The instructions say
that blender needs to have been installed from official website?
Then it gives the option Install from PyPi - Press. "Install from PyPI" but I see nothing like that to press.
Try manually installing with pip install py-slvs. Restart Blender but no solverspace in Bender Preferences.
I am obviously too dumb for modern software.

What does that mean? I have to install a copy of Blender with solverspace already installed or justIt's recommended to use the addon with Blender installed from the official website.

Re: FreeCAD on the web
I watched the video and the guy clearly has not a clue about FreeCAD, having to export a Step file, import a step file, create an STL, WHAT - Talk about fake workflow, why does one have to go through the step file processing.
