Sketcher Rectangular Array - parametric use
Hi,
in the sketcher there is a feature "Create Array" (https://wiki.freecadweb.org/Sketcher_RectangularArray)
Does anyone know if it is possible to use this in a parametric way? (creating a cable holder, want to dynamically create the right number of holes in the sketch)
Version info:
OS: Ubuntu 21.04 (ubuntu:GNOME/ubuntu-xorg)
Word size of OS: 64-bit
Word size of FreeCAD: 64-bit
Version: 0.19.
Build type: Release
Branch: unknown
Hash: 0d9536ed3e8c7f40197b5606e1b7873625e1d6fe
Python version: 3.9.5
Qt version: 5.15.2
Coin version: 4.0.0
OCC version: 7.5.2
Locale: English/United States (en_US)

No, it's just a macro to help you in your sketch.
You should use Transformation tools (eg PartDesign_LinearPattern)

Re: Sketcher Rectangular Array - parametric use
It is not possible. For that you should use some patterning feature.

Thanks for the clear answer. I thought so, and hoped to be wrong

Why ? Explain your problem (image, file). We are full of good ideas.
Re: Sketcher Rectangular Array - parametric use
This is a small cable holder. I designed all (most) parameters in the sketch now.
I could redo it, but my lazy butt was hoping not to have to redo some work
This gimmick is to bind my USB cables, but if I make it thicker, it also does other cables.
Now, the teeth help keep the wire organised. I will have to revert to making these dents as separate objects.

Re: Sketcher Rectangular Array - parametric use
Not separate objects, only separate features. And then you model only half of it and make a multitransform with linear pattern + mirror.
A Sketcher Lecture with in-depth information is available in English, auf Deutsch, en français, en español.

you draw a 1/2, Pad
you draw a tooth, Pad and Linear Patern 3 times
you Miror in the Part workbench (PartDesign does not work), (light green)

Mirror Pad first. Then it will let you add a mirror to the multitransform.papyblaise wrote: ↑Wed Aug 11, 2021 2:37 pm you draw a 1/2, Pad
