I installed Glass through the addon manager.

I would attach an image but I don't have time right now to jump through those hoops.
Thanks for the heads up. @triplus hasn't been active lately on the forum. Not sure if @triplus is actively developing Glass ATM.

There is another overlay mode being worked on by Realthunder..but there are hoops to jump through to use it.

Hi,

Instead of the combo-view tree-view appears when I pres Q+1.
Is there a way to change this behavior please?

I just made a pull request fixing the issue of text transparency when renaming a node. I hope triplus would merge it.

@triplus has been 'off the radar' for a while now. I'll talk to yorik and we'll clone his repos so issues can be addressed

Is there a setting/tweak to hide the Tree from Combo view by default (what he is doing with the mouse for about 2 seconds here https://youtu.be/ny31diN1ZhM?t=519)?

In combination with Glass the Combo view Tree seems to be an unnecessary duplicate...?

I did that in my fork, it has other differences too though

I'm thinking of redirecting Glass (in the Addon Manager) from @triplus's to your repo @adrianinsaval
Is that OK with you?

edit: since @triplus has been AWOL

Thank you! I am looking into it, although I'm not really sure what I am doing - trial and erroring myself forward

Do you think it is technically possible to make the Glass Tree area adopt to the size of the tree? That would be nice, since the transparent background behind the tree is still blocking the pointer's editing and zooming/rotating possibilities in that area of the 3D view...

(So if the tree would contain 5 rows, then the glass tree area should adopt to that height, and not go all the way down to the bottom of the 3D view...)

Or maybe even better - to make the tree background area not only transparent, but completely hidden/gone/disabled?

Greetings!

I don't have enough knowledge to do something like that but thankfully realthunder has it and has done it, it's still only in his fork of FreeCAD but should be eventually integrated into FreeCAD, being an UI only feature that doesn't break old files or workflows I don't think it will be met with as much resistance (and therefore delays) as his other developments so I am hopeful. There really isn't much to gain by continuing to develop this addon considering a better method is already further in develoment.

Aha, I wasn't aware of that... So what realthunder developed is a replacement of Glass, build into FreeCAD without the need for an addon?
