MacOS Delete key not working in Ubuntu

Post by martin51 »

Recently set up my MacBook Air to dual boot Ubuntu so that I can check out the Linux version of Freecad. It took me a little while to find out how to make the app image bootable  but so far so good. Everything is pretty much working as expected but the one problem I have at the moment is the Mac keyboard Delete key doesn't work. I'm assuming this is a keyboard hardware issue as I had the same problem in MacOS which I fixed by editing the user config file to include a shortcut that remaps Delete to Backspace (thanks chrisb). My guess is the same can be done in Ubuntu but so far, being a complete noob, I haven't managed to find out how. I'd appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction.

Thanks, Fn-Delete works in Ubuntu too :) but after hunting around I finally found the FreeCAD user config file in /Home/.FreeCAD/. I guess these simple text files are platform independent as replacing the file on Ubuntu with the Mac config brings over all the Mac FreeCAD preferences including having the Delete key function :) .
