Pathetic newbie question

Post by DAHunt55 »

I used to use Solidworks 07, haven't done any 3d modeling since 2006. How do you rotate a part in FreeCad? I used to have a SpaceBall, now using a conventional mouse. Thanks in advance!

There are various possibilities:
- use Std Transform
- use the Placement dialog
- change the Placement values in the Data tab.

Please note: if an object is attached, you have to change the AttachmentOffset and not the placement, which is then calculated.
A Sketcher Lecture with in-depth information is available in English, auf Deutsch, en français, en español.

Take a look at https://wiki.freecad.org/Mouse_navigation

Various types of movement, with instructions about use. Pick one you like.

I just use draft rotate, depending on what I am rotating.

In FreeCAD wiki there is also a document to help you in the transition between SolidWorks and FreeCAD if I remember correctly.
