Thank you for the pointer to these videos. I think they will be quite helpful.

Has anyone published a more *conceptual* introduction to FreeCad?, as distinct from instructions on how to do particular things. I'm sure there are lots of ways to learn but my own personal preference to to try to understand the overall concept, then get into the specifics.

Try the book "FreeCAD 0.20 Learn by Doing" . The book gets you set up for success, and personally recommend it before viewing any tutorial videos out there, as many videos assume you already have a good grasp of the basic functions.
