Exporting cross section to DXF does not work

Post by exsolvespacer »

I have this part design which I wish to export the cross section to Autocad DXF so that I can cut it on a laser cutter. I go to the Part workbench and take a cross section then export this cross section but it keeps giving me a straight line with 5 circles on it. That is it. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

Last time I posted there I got told to post here because I am using the RT branch. Has this advice changed? Thanks.

Sorry, I've not noted the FC version info.

It has some sense as Asm3 WB is similar to RT branch but only for Assembly related things. I think that asm3 subforum:

viewtopic.php?t=25712

would be more taylored.

Did you try with stock 0.20.2 or even with 0.21 if the import problem is present?

I fear that however as RT branch is using an old fork of master probably only RT branch users could help if problem is specific to RT.

Kind Regards

Yes, (previously it used to be Assembly section - don't ask me for the logic of it :lol: )
now this forum section has been created:
viewforum.php?style=4&f=44
but... it is still half measure and it is really no link branch help section.

This forum is dedicated to Master branch and your chances of getting help (I am afraid) are small.

There is https://discord.com/ place but... it really is gamer kind of place :mrgreen:

There is no good place for link branch help :roll:

Bottom line is, that if you need help you better create your model in Master 0.21 and then ask for help about it :idea:

so, here is master branch version:
lasercut_(master_version).FCStd
(33.95 KiB) Downloaded 24 times
I bet it still hasd exactly the same problem :lol:
(I suspect operator error)
but now you can legitimately ask ask about it in help section....

created using:

Code: Select all

OS: Debian GNU/Linux 11 (bullseye) (KDE/plasma)
Word size of FreeCAD: 64-bit
Version: 0.21.0.32985 (Git) AppImage

Python 3.10.10, Qt 5.15.8, Coin 4.0.0, Vtk 9.1.0, OCC 7.6.3
Locale: English/United Kingdom (en_GB)
Installed mods:
  * ToolViewReverse_ToolBar
  * DynamicData 2.46.0
  * sheetmetal 0.2.49
  * Assembly3 0.11.4
  * fasteners 0.3.40
  * ThreadProfile 1.81.0
  * Manipulator 1.4.3
I am using Link branch and Assembly3
you can also download ... and try it here
