Re: Dumb color question
You can do a lot of strange things with colors. I don't know if it is a bug or a feature. Everyone has to decide for himself.
If you change color settings at the body level it affects the entire hierarchy. But if you change the settings at feature level it only affects the actual selected feature.
That means top-down and bottom-up behalfs different

Re: Dumb color question
Temporary Workaround...
(Till I get more answers...)
I found a way to get the B&W screenshots I needed
(Just in case it helps someone else in need...)
This overrides stupid unknown color mods in the drawing... so more reliable)
A-Background to white:
Pref> Display> Colors(tab)> Background> SimpleColor> White
B-Lines to BLACK (Via "Selected" method...)
Pref> Display> Colors(tab)> (x)EnableSelectionHighlighting(BLACK)
-look at object in PartDesign in Tree, click on Body
-in right pane (drawing), RtClk> DrawStyle> Wireframe
-Make invisible (not hide!) things like DatumPlane, etc (by spacebar in treeview)
-Back on RH pane, Command+A (Select All)
-POOF all B&W, can rotate, zoom, etc, get screenshots in B&W

Re: Dumb color question
Thanks,
I was looking at that (thanks for posting)... but still trying to figure out what you're doing...
Are you proposing that I add layers? (for color management?)
(I'm not familiar with layers in FreeCAD yet (but am in other SW)).
Thanks, Fred

Re: Dumb color question
If you intend to make only! an screenshot of the 3DView you can use the save picture tool Select Extended (1) - Set Background to white (2) and maybe use an preset (3)
Then there is no need to temporarily tweak backdrop of the 3DView
cheers

Re: Dumb color question
Hi johnstonf, hello to the Community!
Some parameters are hidden (by right choice/strategy/setting/default as in Part Design it is the Body that is the object not its modeling phases, I don't know if I explained the concept well), the gif shows how to view and edit them and then hide them again.
