Feature request: move Notification Area in preferences to Display

Post by chrisb »

The General pereferences have already quite some tabs.
Display tab has only three entries.
The notification area is rather a display tool (it will not come up in headless mode :) ).

Thus I would like to see the tab to configure it be moved to the Display tab.
A Sketcher Lecture with in-depth information is available in English, auf Deutsch, en français, en español.

"notification area" = Report view ?

('Editor' + 'Python Console' + 'Macro' in a new section "Macro & Python"=)

IIRC "Display" is actually focused on Viewport preferences.

I don't think it fits in display as it's mostly about the 3d view. Stylesheets and panel preferences are not there for example.
I like shalmeneser's proposal better and with that I think we already gain plenty of space. We can also move the contents of the Units tab to the General tab.

Another solution could be to merge "report view" and "notification area" into a "reporting" tab with 2 groupboxes.
But these pages are quite big, so it would need a bit of optimization of space to fit on one page.
