FreeCAD and Stream Deck

Post by wotar »

Hello everyone,

I'm fairly new to FreeCAD and fighting my way through the process of learning it. To make things way easier and more healthy to my wrists also, I had the glorious idea to use my Stream Deck along with FreeCAD. Unfortunately, I can't find any profile to make these two speak to each other. So I thought I could create one on my own. But therefore I'd need the icons that are used inside FreeCAD. As I understand these are not available within the program installation directory nor anywhere else on my computer. Web search made me learn that these are "compiled within FreeCAD". So far, so bad.

My two questions are:

1. Does anyone know of any existing FreeCAD profile for Stream Deck?

2. Is there any way to get hands on these program icons (for somebody who hasn't studied computer science and is not willing to do so in the future)?

Firstly have you read viewtopic.php?p=594491 ?

Secondly the program icons are scattered under numerous folders, the main Gui are:

https://github.com/FreeCAD/FreeCAD/tree ... /Gui/Icons

and then each workbench has it's own so for the Part Wb, it's:

https://github.com/FreeCAD/FreeCAD/tree ... rces/icons

and repeat for all other Wb replacing Part with the one required.

Hi Syres,

your reply is much appreciated. There we have the icons! Thank you! The suggested topic though isn't of any interest for me, since Steam Deck isn't Stream Deck. ;)

There was a project here doing something like this. It used a Python connection and as far as I remember it was similar to an arduino project connecting to FreeCAD.

Not sure bu i expect that he means this: https://www.elgato.com/en/welcome-to-stream-deck
I know it from live streams where multiple camera positions, or views are pre-set for a life stream for easy switching between them.
for example:
- presenter (cam pos 1)
- powerpoint with presenter(small)
- presenter with powerpoint (small)
- audience
- cam pos 2
- cam pos 3
- tilt 1 step to left
- tilt 1 step to right
- etc
