Step Export using local coordinate system

Post by Johnny Geling »

Hello,

From my understanding the STEP export function uses the global coordinate system of a part.
Is it possible to use another coordinate system as base coordinate system for the export?

Regards

I don't know, but I would just use draft move to move the part to be exported to the global origin

I'm not quite sure what this option does, but you may try Preferences->Import-Export->STEP->Export->Export single object placement.

You may have to use a step import or export before going to preferences in order to make the preferences available.

I used this setting. No luck.

It would help when multiple coordinate systems are exported to the STEP format.
In that case I can reposition in the receiving application.
