Do I Slice or re-create model?

Post by ronyd »

Attached is the project of a 90 degree angle bracket. The pic shows 3 views.

#1 and #2 show the from and side view of the bracket (also from the project file)
#3 shows the revised model

Question:
is it easier to slice the bracket to move the bottom of the bracket and re-attach OR create a new model as shown in #3?

hope this makes sense

Assuming you wanted the widths to match, it is easier to make again.

You should use axis more cleverly.

just modify the length of the sketch, and of the slot if necessary

Another lesson learned. So no need to use Datum Planes?

Need to use Datum Planes :
* for mirror
* when multiple sketches need to have same placement
* when a sketch need Rotation THEN offset (attachment do offset THEN rotation)
* when you want to show the plane

I have a slight twist to this bracket that i just realized.

this bracket is for this inside of a bass drum. There will be 2 for the top lugs and 2 for the bottom lugs. If I may Assume not knowing anything about drumming, see pic 1

The brackets will hold metal uprights. I know i can angle the uprights to align, but rather have the brackets angled so the metal uprights are square to the brackets. So, I decided to make the bracket as 2 pieces (pic 2), the existing angle bracket and the other attachment that can pivot. this allows more precise movement and alignment between the top and bottom bass drum lugs.

i take a stab at it. Il get back if i have any issues.

thankx very much for your great work on it for me!!
