Balance holes through impeller

Post by ferris12 »

Hi there,

I have been trying to CAD an impeller with radial blades, and intend to insert balance holes that cut through the disk (red outline in Capture represents the balance hole that has to cut through the impeller). The balance hole has to be inserted exactly midway between the two blades and then multiplied using polar array option so that there is a balance hole between every pair of two blades. I am reletively new to FreeCAD, so I am facing some trouble inserting these holes through impeller. Can somone help me with this?

The FreeCAD file has been attached.

Make a Draft Polar Array of cylinders and cut them from the rest of the impeller.

Thank you! This makes sense. But then these holes are not located exactly midway between the blades.

@ferris12
You should have made the blades symmetrical extrusions, then they wouldn't be offset in angle. Set the symmetric property of Extrude to True.
