create mounting holes?

Post by ronyd »

I created a round case for holding a piezo transducer (see attached pic). I would like to create a round lid with a mount hole (ie.,tabs) on each side. The lid will fit into the case, using mounting holes for a nut and bolt.

Do i create a round part with another part?? for the mounting tabs?

Also mounts could also be square if it makes it easier to design.

oooooh i see now, you don't attach mounting part to the edge but too the center of the lid. i overthink and get to complicated...

thankx for taking time out... :!:

you have intelligently placed the open face on the XY plane, so it is easier to place the sketch of the ear on this plane without risk of TNP

Hi, still learning and great to learn by example. one more object i wanted to add to the case. I need to hole (rectangular) from the case in order to route wire from the case.

I tried using subtractive box? But doesn't extend through the case... Do i need to create a sketch for the box? No sure if I'm on the right thinking here.

thankx

In your last file, you should not use the solid for support : TNP

Do you need a Hole feature or just a Pocket ?

I usually don't use Primitive from PartDesign but sketch instead.
