The new Loft node for FreeCAD Nodes (https://github.com/j8sr0230/Nodes) in action! Starting with a star-shaped flat surface, I used lofting to create a tapering extrusion. After I repeated this process three times on all newly created surfaces, the result is this beautiful abstract shape.

A successful 2023 to everyone ! :D

I started a project last year it was a propeller, just a ballnose 5x4.5 two blades. Forerunner was a pack of sketches i wonted to make faces of. I kind of stuck half way designing the tip... Yesterday i tried the Curevd Shapes Workbench used three sketches and some tweaking to get a nice clean geometry. This was the first attempt, the blade has a curvature like a real wing. It is not the geometry i attended to make in first place but it is a nice tool to have.

Most satisfying was the fact this propeller takes literally minutes to make and this is excellent!

Propeller booooring, here is a Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT from my DIY Arcade-Pinball Joystick with twenty buttons! Yes you can play using your fingers and toes all at ones. This means going all in, almost .

[Take a look at the the Arcade pinball Joystick, go to previous post viewtopic.php?t=5750&start=200]

The dimensions are taken from various internet sources, picture tracing included. The joystick may look complicated but it is not. Very simple geometries building up and interlocking trough the parts, that's all. It is impossible to show all the details via a few images. Only the 3D model will offer the whole picture...

You may find the Joystick model on https://grabcad.com/jimmi.henry-1/models very soon.

Cheers.

That's awesome! I have that same exact joystick sitting on my left right now.
Would you mind sharing the FreeCAD file for it, please (possibly for the arcade controller as well, but at least for the joystick if not for everything)?

Thank you.... :D

At the moment i am refining the parts, adding more details etc. This process can drive one crazy because i have to copy the altered "sub parts" to the bigger assembly what would be the "Arcade Joystick". FreeCAD does not have a save management or assembly structure.... Chaos is the brother of Cosmos ;). Yes Chaos it is!

The entire model is about 28MB at the moment, give me the weekend to complete the overhaul, and reach 30MB  . I will drop/ PM you a temporary file host address for the download.

Brand new microswitches just found the way to the Pinball Arcade Joystick.

We could extend the Arch PipeConnector object to do that automatically...
It looks to me like @Maykow is modelling a "Y" with a reducer in the Y leg. Kind of non-standard, it probably should be a 4x2 like https://www.homedepot.com/p/Charlotte-P ... /313834677.

Impressive, nonetheless!

Thanks for your interest! Unfortunately, not yet. I'm currently working on a major revision of the node editor, which should improve the node layout in particular. Likewise, I'd like to cleanly implement the input widgets that were originally planned but then discarded. When I'm happy with the layout, vidos and tutorials will come. It goes on and on :)

This little electronic PCB's tower that looks like the USCSS Nostromo M- Class Starfreighter to me is a Arduino based CNC controller, motor driver included. Those stepper motor drivers are capable running a small NEMA17. The green PCB terminal block is a part of a screw shield that allows a secure connection of wires to the Arduino. In this configuration big stepper drivers can be connected, or something completely different... For some reason it came to me to remake this screw shield digital. Meanwhile i manage to make footprints using FreeCAD and export them for the use with KiCAD. Gathering 3D files there is a lot to chose from as always . However the files i need were not to find, at least on GrabCAD. I had to make them myself, it is not a difficult task but it has to be done proper. At very least the outer dimensions should be true, building the block according to three data sheets will lead to tree different models! So i am sticking to the hardware adjusting with the best alike data sheet. It works well, not perfect but definitely good enough to manufacture or send it to a 3D printer.

PCB Terminal Block P3.5mm FreeCAD files as well as KiCAD files including footprints can be found at https://grabcad.com/jimmi.henry-1/models?page=1

Cheers

Hi @jimmihenry,

Your models are always nice to watch.

The part shown in this entry has the FreeCAD file available at the GrabCAD site, but many of them don't: is there any chance that you publish the FreeCAD files for all the other models too? Git[hub|lab|xxx] maybe?

Best regards
