Recovered file after a fatal crash ruins job in Freecad 0.21

Post by acp693 »

Hi, this has happened twice now after a fatal crash in the latest development version of Freecad 0.21. The recovered file has a job file structure in comboview where all the folders for Operations, Model, Stock etc. are directly under each other, i.e, no longer belonging to the Job, just separate folders. Sorry I don't have a screenshot. It looks similar to when a job created in the latest development version is opened in the stable version of Freecad. Has this got something to do with the emergency save that occurs when Freecad crashes? I'm simply saving the project after each addition of an operation, tools etc. Just wanted to bring attention to it. :)

I'm not familiar with an emergency saving mechanism and I also haven't had any crashes of FC lately. Is there a chance you can pack up the recovery files so I can have a look at them? Unfortunately I don't know what's involved in doing so.

I don't know where they are on Windows. If you haven't it configured differently - and I guess you haven't, because otherwise you would know where they are - they are in a temporary folder; probably in C:\Users\AppData\Local\Temp. If they arent there, search for files
FreeCAD_Doc_... .fcstd,
where the ... is a long sequence of numbers and letters.
