Non-standard threaded holes in 0.20

Post by remcomeeder »

I love the new feature to easily create threaded holes, it works great for the standard threads that are in the list.
For a recent project however, I needed PG13.5 threads and I needed a cap for bottle which has a very coarse threads (2.7 mm pitch)
I couldn't find a practical way to solve this issue in FreeCAD. I ended up using TinkerCAD for this since it has a very flexible thread generator.

Is there a way to expand the threads included in the FreeCAD threaded hole generator so you can add your own thread sizes?

With PartDesign Helix you can define your own thread. Not only pitch, but also the shape of the thread.
A Sketcher Lecture with in-depth information is available in English, auf Deutsch, en français, en español.
