0.20 splash screen contest
We need a new splash screen image for the 0.20 release!
Anyone interested in submitting something? At the end we organize a vote to choose the best one. Image must be 400x245 pixels in size, might contain transparent areas, should illustrate cool stuff made with FreeCAD, not use any proprietary or copyrighted materials (models, etc) and if possible be made only with FreeCAD. If your image has transparent areas (for ex. non-rectangular), another version might be needed for the "About" dialog, where non-rectangular images might not look so good...
I'll try to make a couple myself too in the coming days

Re: 0.20 splash screen contest
Cool! But let's use FreeCAD official for the SplashScreen images...Kunda1 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 21, 2022 3:45 pm I'll go first

Re: 0.20 splash screen contest
I agree, but notice that last time we did use an image from RT branch

Re: 0.20 splash screen contest
That was discussed and agreed as acceptable when submissions for the last splash screen was being voted on. But I agree, no shadow-mode in this go-around.adrianinsaval wrote: ↑Mon Feb 21, 2022 5:53 pm I agree, but notice that last time we did use an image from RT branch![]()

Re: 0.20 splash screen contest
I want to experiment with separate splash and about images. I know the Pr for it got merged last year. Is there a way to override the images built into the appimage with ones in my ~/.FreeCAD folder? Perhaps through an entry in Tools > Edit Parameters?
Re: 0.20 splash screen contest
There isn't an easy way to do it in the AppImage, the resource files are compiled in, and will be discovered before any other search locations. I can look into adding a user preference to override those, but that won't help you until the next build of the image.

Thanks for looking into this! Here is my current submission (Separate splash and about screen images):
Feedback is welcome. I primarily used images posted on the forums during 2021.
