Definitely a problem which I can confirm it for more than 1 year ago! I was looking if there's a fix on version 18 for FreeCAD and I found this thread! I didn't wanted to pollute this forum with useless messages but since this issue has already an open Ticket then I thought I should share my experiences here!
So, I stick with FreeCAD 17 and avoid moving to 19 because of this problem! Most of my cad designs are based on spreadsheets and I had a lot of troubles using FreeCAD 18 because of lost Alias values. Even yesterday I opened one of my CAD designs because I had an issue with one of the Sketcher files - there was 1 unconstraints and I open it in FreeCAD 18 just to see which one it is!
Getting it back in FreeCAD 17 I start notice that all the dimensions in Sketcher lost their values and the Aliases were blank!
Link to a part I designed is here:

As far as I can tell, in FreeCAD 17 there's no problem with it!
If you'll open it up with FreeCAD 18 and, for example, you'll navigate to "BodyNegativeMarkReady" => "BodyNegativeMarkExtrude" => and to the "BodyNegativeMarkSketch" Sketch and hit the Update button and then close, you'll start seeing red exclamation circles on the model window.
I really hope this thing wil be solved somehow so I can start using FreeCAD 18!

Thanx for open up this ticket!

Can't reproduce neither with 0.18.4 nor with latest 0.19.
There are indeed some errors visible in the tree view, but no one linked to a spreadsheet alias vanishing (and as far as I can tell, errors seem to be correctly triggered).

Hello openBrain,
I know is not easy to reproduce but allow me some time to find a clear way where you can see what I mean!
Meanwhile, I definitely found an issue with 0.17 on Spreadsheets and I hope it can be seen from your side as well! I know is 0.17 and not 0.18 as we're discussion on this thread but maybe it can help you lead to 0.18 problem as seems to be somehow similar!
So, my FreeCAD is 0.17 / 13541 (Git) release date 2018/08/16. My OS is Windows 10 64 bit (recently updated to 1909) but I don't think is about the OS since this issue I had it before when I was using W10 1803... or so.
I'll attach one of my FreeCAD designs so you can work with it!
Link to the file in my Dropbox account is here:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/0p9odjwxqkxdi ... FCStd?dl=0

If you'll open the file you'll not see any errors but open with above mentioned FreeCAD 0.17 version, the Spreadsheet called "PartDimensions"
There you'll find that "Pins Height (C) =" line doesn't have the Alias declared, AND the text alignment is off, even though I explicitly set it to be center & Center on both vertical and horizontal axes!
Now try to change the alignment of the value field to center & center and give it a name in the "Alias of this cell" to be "PinsHeight"
In the tree view, the "PinsExtrude" error should go away!
What I was doing is to close the FreeCAD window with this project and open it again! When you do, you'll see that you'll start over again since the alias for that particular cell and the text alignment are lost... again!
I managed to fix this issue by completely delete the line in the spreadsheet and replicate it two positions down!

When I'll have some spare time I'll try to do the same process for 0.18 and see how it reacts! Moreover, I want to do the same for other designs of mine and clearly see my problems with spreadsheets, this time in FreeCAD 0.18!

Thank you for your time!

Trying to solve this frustrating issue I came up to the conclusion that text Alignment might be the source of this problem! I've hit another issue like this (missing alias when reopen the document) and I've let the text in default format - no issues! Whet I format it as centered on both axes => Aliases was gone on that particular line!

Thx for perseverance. :) I'm confident this will be uselful. Could you please elaborate a complete step-by-step process to reproduce the issue including latest information ?

Well, sadly what I've said above is not true! It seems that even if I deliberately choose to have text aligned on the right / center => it still loses some of the Aliases! In this new case, two of them are already lost! :x
FYI, until now I only saw one lost... now things are getting "better and better"...

Edit: I like FreeCAD a LOT and I would gladly want to see these issues solved somehow since I'm planning to do great things (at least for me :) ) with it! As I said, for now I cannot move on to latest FreeCAD releases due to this issue despite my intentions to do so!

We'd like to have problem solved too. :) But we need to reproduce. ;)
Just a question (I can't access Dropbox ATM, don't know why -- may you attach your file to the forum directly ?) : are you using in your parameters angle values with unit written as '°' ?

I cannot pinpoint the source of this problem ... seems to affect me randomly when I make the changes to Spreadsheet or update the sketches! I wish I could do more but I cannot track it with what I know.
I'll upload the file on this post! (Finally found the "Attachment" tab :geek: )
I hope you'll find it useful!

EDIT: in this file I'm using only millimeters as a measuring unit! I usually do use angles chars as well but it seems that it doesn't matter: it will affect me either way!

Without pressing too much are there any news regarding this issue? Have you managed to "see" it on your side too? ;)
