I will repost a couple pics and recap the details. Currently in Part Design there is an option in Preferences-Sketcher-"Restore camera position after editing", I want to add another option to the list "Maintain camera position while editing". With these two options set correctly, when entering Sketcher the current view will not be set to sketch-normal, instead the current view will stay the same as it was in Part design. Sketcher has no problem with this in terms of sketching and in many cases sketching in the 3D view can be very effective. My goal is to move back and forth between Part design and sketcher in a almost seemless enviornment.
Using a 2D sketch 3D view; The constraints are amazingly effective in a 3D view, they hold the solid to certain dimensions and you are allowed to adjust only the unconstrained portions, just like modifying a solid in 3D but now it's done to the sketch.
I have attached a simple example. If you want to try it open the revolution sketch in Body001, then set sketcher to isometric view. The constraints hold the valve body to certain dimensions. With auto-update set to On the visuals are outstanding, to me this is the power of CAD, this is real-time solid editing in Sketcher. You can modify some proportions of the valve body by dragging a sketch line around. You can use alt+left hold to adjust the 3D view in sketcher.
I think it's also necessary to to switch between sketch-normal and the 3D view which can be done with view toolbar. The isometric icon could hopefully be redefined in sketcher to set the stored 3D view instead of isometric.
