Menu bar has never appeared in Window OS 10 and FreeCAD 0.19.

Post by sweettone »

I installed FreeCAD 0.19 on Windows 10. However the Menu bar has never
appeared at once. I reinstalled it but it still have this problem.
I am Macintosh user and I do not have strong experience of Windows.
I need to use it on Windows. Could you please advice me to solve this
issue?

Best regards,

Can you please do the following:
- uninstall FreeCAD _completely_ meaning, in the uninstaller also set the option to reset the preferences
- then reinstall FreeCAD 0.19 but using this installer:
https://github.com/donovaly/FreeCADInst ... ller-2.exe

Does this work, can you please post a screenshot of the initial view you get after starting FreeCAD the first time?

Can you please also post your system settings (Menu Help->About and there "Copy to clipboard")?

FreeCAD-0.18.4.980bf90-WIN-x64-installer works well (I think and hope).
I use 18.4 anyway.

Windows is really difficult to me... And also I cannot find Menu Help.
I try to clean install 0.19.3pre later.

Ping.

You screenshot shows that FreeCAD is there correctly. But you have a frame above it that is smaller than FreeCAD itself. Do you have for example a virtual machine running or you run FreeCAD via another computer by remote control?

Mistake: FreeCAD-0.18.4.980bf90-WIN-x32-installer works well (I think and hope).
I use 18.4 anyway.
Thank you very much.

Do you want a working version of FC or not? Using a year old version is no real solution but to investigate why you have a window on top of your programs is.

Someone told me that "FreeCAD 0.19.x/0.20.x issue with older GL/GPU hardware/drivers" on Twitter. I think 0.18 is best.

I really wonder why you think an old version with many known bugs and crashes is best for you. When you know it is a driver issue, then I would update the drivers.

For CAD also an investment in newer graphics hardware makes sense. For example after I upgraded my graphics card I noticed a higher speed and this is very valuable in daily work.
