TechDraw ordinate dimensioning
I did a search and there was mention of ordinate dimensioning a while back.
Was it ever on the radar in TechDraw?
Could it be on the radar?

Re: TechDraw ordinate dimensioning
This shows baseline linear dimensions not ordinate dimensions.
Re: TechDraw ordinate dimensioning
Ordinate dimensionin like this:
You set a 0-point and the next points are dimensioned against the 0-point. Used especially in drawings meant for lathe work.

Re: TechDraw ordinate dimensioning
SolidWorks has separate tools for that.
I created a GitHub ticket: https://github.com/FreeCAD/FreeCAD/issues/6587
This idea is really interesting, it would be nice to have such tools implemented in TechDraw. Here's an older thread where someone asked about it: https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=27008

Re: TechDraw ordinate dimensioning
Yes. Indeed. I was thinking the same a couple of days ago. But I'm glad it not just me.
In inventor you need to put a datum point, which the will become x0 y0 for that view. The you can crack on doing both horizontal and vertical ordinate dimensioning.
Its used more and more frequently in industry as well.
So +1 from me as well.

Any signs of this being developed?

Thanks for the info!
Re: TechDraw ordinate dimensioning
@wandererfan I would like to contribute to the development of this function. I don't have any prior experience in FC dev. Where would you suggest to look at to get things rolling? A similar function etc?
