[Feature Request] Ticket #4837- Built-in symbols
Hi,
I've noticed that the TechDraw module doesn't have built-in symbols that could be added to dimensions or annotations. Of course, they can be copied from other source and pasted to a proper text field in TechDraw but it would be handy to have them available from some short list. Interestingly, the diameter and angle symbols are automatically added to corresponding types of dimensions but they have to be manually copied and pasted if the user wants to include them in other type of dimension (e.g. diameter dimension in side view) or in some annotation. On the other hand, geometric tolerance symbols are not available at all and they have to be copied, for example from the table included here: TechDraw Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
I have the impression that adding such symbols to FreeCAD wouldn't be hard and could improve the user experience. What do you think about this ?

After #ElonMuskBuyTwitter I'm no more on Twitter, that's really enough

+1 for a text zone with useful char which can be expanded.
Re: [Feature Request] Built-in symbols
It will be nice to this function: if you double click on dimension it opens "Rich-addonatation-window" - it's all ready in Freecad. Just add one more sliding-button (S) on this window on top - for special symbols. That's how it is in Inventor/Zwcad/Mechnaical....... probably and SW.

Re: [Feature Request] Built-in symbols
Thank you guys for your feedback.
I created a ticket for this request: https://tracker.freecadweb.org/view.php?id=4837
And here's how it looks like in SolidWorks:
Clicking this button marked with red rectangle opens a whole library of symbols including geometric tolerances, welds but also some exotic stuff.

I have it on my todo-list.
A good example you may use meanwhile is: https://github.com/reox/FreeCAD_macros/ ... at.FCMacro.
Please give me some weeks time.

I've been using that macro for a while, and while it works well, it should be integrated in FreeCAD. I was going to suggest added these symbols to the core, since you already added the diameter and square tube symbols, but I see you already knew about it.
While I agree that making the software extensible is fantastic, some things should be handled by the core, specially for new users that don't know that this macro even exists.
Many thanks for continuing to make TechDraw better!
