Where do you think Ok and Cancel should be

A dialog (task panel) should always have a button to dismiss it. GUI design 101 IMO.

Yes but that doesn't change that it could all be in the same taskbox.

My opinion is that the 'Task view' should instead be a 'Widget view'.
In This view we have different kind of widgets.
Some are 'task boxes', in the meaning that they enclose the parameters of one task, including required buttons.
Some other widgets don't need any buttons.
