SO I'm pretty new to FreeCAD.
Hope this question isn't too silly. I have this model that I need cut into two halves. I found the "cross section" tool to find where I want to split the model, but it doesn't slice it into two. I'm not sure what it does really.
What is my best way to cleanly cut my model in half? Am I on the right track?
Please be simple with your answers. I'm a novice. Thanks so much!!!

Create a datum plane or plane primitive in the Part workbench. Then select the object and the plane and use the Slice apart tool.

I guess you want to have 2 parts for them placed flat on a printer's table, so you want to keep the 2 but independent
use PartWb , cut the upper part with a cube (boolean subtraction) then common boolean with the same cube

The object is most probably a mesh. Slicing has to be done in Mesh workbench.
