PartDesign vs Part thickness tool

Post by ngocminhdao88 »

Hello,

i got different results of a relative simple part with a thickness tool from Part and PartDesign (PD) workbench. PD tool delivers a cleaner result then Part workbench. It also computed faster (my feeling).

Don't both tools use the same algorithm?

If you change the Part thickness object to go to the outside as the PartDesign object does, then both look the same.
CheckGeometry shows already errors on the input, so errors are to be expected, especially as this is one of the most picky functions in the geometric kernel.

Okay, so i changed the offset in Part thickness tool to negative. It gives same result as in PD. It was a mistake on my side.

I also noticed the lost in resolution of model before and after fusion operation (see image). 3D printed part shows the waviness on the surface. Is there a way for me to avoid it? Refine option doesn't change anything.

Try Mesh Workbench. In the model you don't change Refine, but rather Deviation and Angular deflection.
