You can safely remove the circle, it doesn't play any role with the issue.

Set transparency of the cutter to 0 and recompute.

the transparency was set to 0, setting it again to 0 and recalculating didn't do anything. changing the color, e.g. to white, worked. I think that's a useful workaround

...

After a long search I found this, so it works. is that meant?

You can set it there, I would do it directly in the properties.

Was transparency automatically set to 75 or why did you have to search for it?

ok thanks, that works too. because it then has a different color and there are more mouse clicks, i prefer changing the color as described above

I don't remember setting that 75. I assume it is a default value

If you do the following you will find that all will be good (and your question is may be solved):
Open your file => Select “CutPlane” (Image 1) => Play with Transparency (make it up to 1 then down to 0) => Cut box is no longer transparent (Image 2).

I do not know why? :? I wish if some body can explain why?or it is bug :)
Cheers

Thanks for the tip, it also works as a workaround

But if you then recompute CutPlane, it will be partially transparent again, so it's not a "permanent" fix.

I admit I'm confused about this. Why does tranparency of CutVolume affect transparency of CutPlane? Why the sides and the bottom of the CutPlane become transparent when you hover mouse over them, or select them? If this is not a bug, is this documented somewhere?

(I guess this should be moved to some other sub-forum since this is not about Draft, Arch or BIM.)
