I am so glad I learned, oh so long ago, that speed is detrimental to good work. (Not to mention the keeping of one's fingers and toes...)

Think things through, plan the implementation (CAD, cooking, car maintenance, what have you), think a few steps ahead.

Every project benefits.

Of course I realize, every business in the world is obsessed with speed...and of course doing it it over. 8-)

I too get excited about speed contests, but since there is snow and the cat is sleeping soundly, it's been 6 minutes
your example is wobbly because you made the Z boards in the same direction: it will not resist the first Zephir
speed and precipitation...

What should be the measure for those speed contests? If it is the time from start to end it depends on different factors:
Some people are fast with the mouse, some are not (I'm not). Some people speed up their videos, some don't (I don't). Some use keyboard shortcuts, some don't (I do).
So we need a sound comparison base which could be something like the number of clicks, number of submenus to be entered, number of keypresses, equivalence factor for keyboard shortcuts vs. mouse click, ...

If the whole time of a project is to be considered, more comes into play. When they installed their 3D lab at the technical university here some time ago, a student made a survey with different companies and their employees and there was a question how often people have to change their projects after showing the first version to the customer.

IIRC, it was something about 1/4 change their designs more than 10 times, 1/2 changes more than 5 times, 1/4 make more than 1 change and only 2% make never any changes to their first design. I know this is more than 100%: take 2 two from the others, I only roughly memorized the values.
The numbers showed some correlation to the development process, and IIRC these last 2% were all following a waterfall model, where it is known from other research, that a dropout of more than 50% is not uncommon.

that's right. and if you compare it with other cad systems, the start time of the software and the storage time of the model should also be taken into account.

for a rough comparison, whether something takes 2 times or 10 times as long, or is comparable, the previous method is sufficient. (my opinion)
