Part Design Dev. Bug - 0.16.5111

Post by quick61 »

I'm kind of hoping it's just me, but need to ask, is anyone else seeing a broken external geometry tool in Part Design/Sketcher?

To reproduce -
  • Make a rectangle sketch and Pad.
  • Select a face and create new sketch.
  • Attempt to pick and edge or vertex as external geometry.

It seems that the eternal geometry is being added, but is not being shown, (no edge or vertex shown to be selectable). Close the Sketch and reopen it, the external geometry is shown and works as expected. Something funky going on...

I can confirm that something is strange, but in my case it is a little bit different.

When trying to select external geometry possible edges are lit up and it seams like they are selected.

Initially they go green but the colour disappears when deselected (clicking somewhere without tool ). The edges does not turn purple until I draw some geometry or exits and enter edit mode.

Good observation on drawing the geometry. i hadn't tried that but doing so does then show the external geometry lines and vertices.

Thanks for looking and confirming. I'll file a ticket. (edit - done)

It looks like this behaviour was introduced in last 24h as it wasn't there yesterday (PPA).

I didn't notice it yesterday either. Guess we get to blame it on abdullah - viewtopic.php?f=27&t=11344 :D

Yes indeed. It's Auto Update related issue.

Ah, I see. It works as usual with Auto Update turned on, or when you click the Update button. Humm, maybe it's actually working as intended?

Yes technically it's only doing what the setting says it should be doing. Hopefully recompute will not be needed to work around this issue. If recompute will be needed that will complicate things. Will wait and see what @abdullah will have to say about it.

Sketch a rectangle>pad
Sketch a circle on a face of the pad.
Select external geometry. Select the top edge. It turns green.
Select the center of the circle. Try to select the left edge of the external geometry line. It turns black.
Drag the circle radius.
On Kubuntu I crash(Exit the program). On windows it's OK.
