Zombie project, or small conversion FC16->FC20

Post by wieszak17 »

Hi,

I decided to reanimate a bit old project of mine - https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=5728 - it is Polish steam locomotive Ol49.
For now i will be converting files from FC16/FC17 to FC20 with some changes where new functionality will allow them. And when all files will be in new FC, then will be time to continue that revived project...

Project was put on hold when it was at that stage:

Progres for now:
main frame elements:

FC file: https://para.zonk.pl/Ol49forum/01/P202-1-0.fcstd

connectors between them:

and pipes for steam exhaust

Will see how far i will progress with that...

Awesome! I just looked at your first sketch (frame)... how many hours did it take to put all this together? I'm thinking wow hours.

KurtF: Not that much, it is rather simple job, you just need some patience to do it. I think it was about hour.

Next parts (unfortunately i usually do not know proper english names for them...):
-some parts are very simple, here are handrails on front bumper:

Bambuko: more complete source drawings. There is still no tender drawings for Pt47 - I could use 27D51 tender (from Ty51), but I didn't want to trace all changes made to 33D47 (tender for Pt47) when it was adapted to Ty51.

What are you using for assembly?
I am looking forward to fully animated motion ;)

I also see that you are not using links in your models?
Is it because they are old v16 models?

bambuko: Only Parts/Parts Design workbenches are used. I just put part in correct position and that's all - in this project i think there is no need for any assembly workbench, it is recreation of something ready, not designing something new.

Files are newly created, only sketches and sometimes starting pads or revolves are copied from old file. There is practically no way to use old files otherwise - any attempt to convert them ends in mess, crash or both.
