If you don't want to use the whole workbench only for transparent feature, you can get the makeTransparent code and add macro to toolbar, I guess FreeCAD has such option.

If you will test it, comments are welcome. I see you are expert in CNC and professional woodworking and furniture production, so this will be beneficial for me.
