It is a hook that block the opening so if the hood is not correctly closed (or opened during the car run) hood is not projected onto the windshield with some catastrophic consequences.
Prices are rather high, as the price is not related to the "production cost" of the part, it has to incorporate also the logistic behind to have a supply at original part dealer, so for a little bit of plastic you could have a lot of "fixed cost" charged on the price because:
- each part must have:
- a position in spare part catalogue
- a price in the spare part price list
- and so on
- many parts are simply "stored" someplace to be "ready to deliver" and also this "storage room" as a cost.
Usually there are some "central storage" usually maybe base upon Nation, or State or even more "granular" depending on the "importance of the part" int term of "vehicle stop time".
You have a different "tolerance" in term of "time to supply" based on a simple question "this part will stop the vehicle at the shop".
Plus part that break frequently are "more available" than part that "nearly never break".
But there are many considerations as each maker has a different policy.

You are right about the hood.
I saw oil gauges, plugs, etc but no front hood lever as a spare part. That is importer policy, how they manage their storage, and what market wants.

Nice! Did you make use of the symmetry? Can you tell us wish model and where this part belongs? Maybe even share the file?

I posted this somewhere else, this is the first time I see this thread. (@moderators, should I delete my post in user showcase or this one?) Here's a racing quad frame made in FreeCAD, made molds for it and then made the frame in carbon fiber with those molds. For the shape of the "arms" of the drone I used the "Curved Shapes" workbench.
The process somewhat documented on YouTube:
You can skip a bit through the video, there are chapters so you get an idea of what I'm doing. I'd love to hear some feedback on what you like about it and what could be improved? If you have done something similar to this, I'd like to see it as well.

No, I did not use symmetry for making this part. I was simply draw contours and extrude them.
I did it for my colleague, he's got, as a gift, broken WAP, I don't know the type. Few parts was severely damaged, but soon as he repair WAP, and try this part successfully i will share it. Original part is from aluminum, so I hope polyamide will be ok for replacement.

Here's the design printed on my Prusa Mini+ using Colorfabb economy PETG (Dark Grey) and 30% infill.
It feels really solid.
