Starting this thread for stuff users have taken "From FreeCAD To The Real World".

Small stuff that you don't feel warrants a new thread, just post your FreeCAD screenshot and a pic of the built object and post here with a couple of lines.

Bigger projects that do warrant a thread of their own, follow the suggestion above and provide a link.

I'll try and keep a linked index here in this first post for quick reference if/when this thread gets bigger than a page or two.

So we'll see how this goes, and of course, all comments on posted projects welcome.

From FreeCAD To The Real World

I needed a bracket to mount a remote wireless temperature sensor to the center post of the picnic table for my indoor / outdoor thermometer. The post is 3"x3" steel pipe and seems like a good place to put the sensor. Not wanting to drill holes, I knocked out this little holder that works with a tystrap. Designed in FreeCAD, and printed on the 3D printer it's ready to be mounted. About 10 minuets to design and about an hour to print.

Yes i do believe we should encourage FreeCAD user base to make 3D model in FreeCAD and to actually try to build it. Brackets, cars, phones, houses...

That was my thinking. If it started in FreeCAD and ended up in the real world, let us know!

Something we can point to, to say, "See, FreeCAD is productive, it's not just for geeks holed up in their mom's basement."

Now, I need to go upstairs and get mom to make me some lunch........................................

The first real thing I did with Freecad. A key for the garden water tap, which I frequently is missing. Now I can just print one whenever needed.

I had seen this on Thingiverse in the "Created with FreeCAD" collection that user lamer has. I look at it regularly. I was wondering just where that would be used, I kept thinking water main, but now I see. Thanks for sharing and posting here. Just what this thread is for.
