Shower head with magic handle

Post by Lars1976 »

Learned a lot from this little project.

A simple showerhead where the water flows through a helix handle.

What a pity that the pressure in my home is so low that a normal shower is always a water saving (and thus energy saving, which is good) experience. I'm afraid that forcing it through the helices will come close to dry clean.

Hi

I'm not an expert in water flow and pressure, but my thinking is

Intake connector hole diameter 8mm = 201mm^2
Helixes: 4 times 4mm diameter = 201mm^2
Head outlets: 30* 1mm diameter = 94mm^2

Given that inntake area is about double the area of the head nozzles, I'd expect the water coming out of the nozzle at aprox double the speed of the water through the inntake. However water pressure is a bit more complex, so how it works in practice remains to be seen.

I haven't actuall printed this yet. Another unknown is that it's now given that a 3D printed part is actually watertight.
I'll update when I have had time to print and test. :)

Very cool! Can you also try rendering this using the Render workbench addon?
