I take the silence to mean it can't be done. What's the work-around? Host it myself (easily done, but not very satisfactory), or link to a Forum post, or what?

I don't know a way, but there are already wiki pages linking to forum posts, so why not to those containing a FreeCAD file?

That's all I could think of that kept it in house.

Several solutions are used for the Tutorials:

Self host:
Arch_tutorial

Link to forum topic:
Thread_for_Screw_Tutorial

Directly link to forum attachments:
Post-Processing_of_FEM_Results_with_Paraview

Use github:
Basic_Attachment_Tutorial

Note that several tutorials use the same github 'blob'. So using that may be the right solution?

Using my own github account looks like a good way to host it. Certainly makes it easier for me to edit without potentially screwing up a forum thread.
