Realthunder branch - Importing Part in A2plus keeps crashing

Post by a_0801 »

FreeCAD crashed for like 4 times when I imported the parts in A2plus workbench. Sometimes it also shows this window prompt after re-opening it. Does anyone know what's causing this? I tried assembling this file in the default branch a few weeks ago and never encountered any crashing.

How about sharing your FreeCAD file?
I could try and see if the problem repeats for me as well?
I am using Link branch and Assembly3

Let's start with "the window prompt"
I am guessing
(because you didn't follow the instruction the big red banner at the top, see: https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2264)

that you (or whoever) have created the files in Master branch and now you are trying to open them in Link branch?
In which case the prompt is perfectly normal - there are differences between the two branches
and importing/migrating from Master to Link requires re-computation.
Sometime it fails...

Now, specially for you   I have installed A2Plus (I don't use it) and .....
Everything opens perfectly fine with no drama or crashes, :ugeek:
so

let's start at the beginning,
what are you using (follow the instructions form the link - above)
It should look something like this:

Code: Select all

OS: Ubuntu Core 20 (Pantheon/pantheon)
Word size of FreeCAD: 64-bit
Version: 2023.130.14555 (Git shallow)
Build type: Release
Branch: (HEAD detached at 2023.01.30-edge)
Hash: 853a80f93e851db61154996cde61ebec4508e6bc
Python version: 3.8.10
Qt version: 5.15.5
Coin version: 4.0.1
OCC version: 7.6.3
Locale: English/United Kingdom (en_GB)
I am using Link branch and Assembly3

As said by other, but maybe it is not clear as it is buried in a log post. (Not to blame the poster, only to give a "relatively" short answer)

RT branch and FreeCAD has no 100% compatibility between files, it is clearly stated somewhere, so your mileage may vary.
