I didn't realise that .step increase the size of the model so much?
original inner_race_(bambuko).FCStd is only 803kb ?

Did you check this yourself? It shows still errors here. It isn't even a solid, only a shell.
I am not familiar with the checks. if that's what's meant, everything seems to be in order. it's just a shell. it was created with freecad from a freecad file. that should actually be error-free for freecad.

Very strange, as we have the same OCC version. Maybe OS dependent differences?

There is currently no current FreeCAD version available on that computer.
