In Assembly how to have a mirrored part

Post by ottos888 »

I am interested how can I make a mirror of any part I designed in partdesign? I want to use it in a2plus assembly.

One of the options that I like and use a lot is to make a Link of original body and set the scale=-1
(you will need to rotate placement to get it right way round).

This question (and the answer) BTW probably has little to do with assembly? (or which assembly workbench you use?),
despite the title of the thread ;)
You can use mirrored body ("part" has specific meaning in FreeCAD) in any way you wish including in assembly.

Which version of FreeCAD are you using?(https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2264)

I use freecad 19.2. And I have a mirror of a part (made in partdesign), and I want to use the mirror of that part in a2plus assembly. Do you have maybe a video how to do it?

I am confused :D
First you ask:
...how can I make a mirror of any part...
now, you are saying:
... I have a mirror of a part (made in partdesign)...
How did you make a mirror in part design?
As far as I know you can mirror features in Part_Design... but not bodies
There is a Part_Mirror in Part workbench
So are you using Part or Part_Design? (different things)
Perhaps you could share you FreeCAD file?

Thank you for your help. Link of the body in a2plus works.
Can you help me how to make a drawing (techdraw, or drawing) of an a2plus assembly, where I can baloon all the parts separatly, and make a section and views of the assembly file?

sorry, can't help you with that... (don't know the answer)
Perhaps post a new question/thread - this is no longer about "mirrored part" so it would be confusing to mix the topics?
