Does Assembly 3 support boolean operations? How about A2+ or Assembly 4?

Post by exsolvespacer »

I am designing a foam cutout for a flight case to store my drone in.

Hence I need a way to assembly parts of a drone and batteries and then "remove" this material from a virtual block of foam.

Is this possible with any of the assembly tools? I am looking in detail at Assembly 3 right now but can't see a way.

Thanks a lot.

You could export the assembly and use it as a cutting tool. I guess a shapebinder would work too. I can't test it myself at the moment.

Are you suggesting exporting as an STL then use that as a cutting tool? There are a lot of different export formats. Thanks.

No, if shapebinder isn't working, I'd look into using Part_SimpleCopy

What's wrong with using sub-shape binders and links?
(and yes - assembly 3)
If you get stuck - share a file/files
I am using Link branch and Assembly3
you can also download ... and try it here
excellent Assembly3 tutorials here

Okay, I am going to google "sub shape binders" and see what they are. BRB!

if exporting, you should use STEP. Else, I'd use Part copy. In both cases, the result will be frozen, independent from the original form. If you want to keep association you should use SubShapeBinder, but I think it's more complicated.
